Obituary

Virginia L. Klemme, age 95 of Rockville, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 24, 2023 at Field of Dreams Assisted Living in Kiel.

Virginia was born in the town of Rhine on June 22, 1928, daughter of the late Paula (Richter) Mayer and George Mayer

On October 11, 1947 she married Donald H. Klemme at St. Peter's UCC, Kiel. Donald preceded her in death on May 21, 1993. Virginia was employed with Tecumseh for over 28 years before she retired from there.  She loved gardening and was known to have a green thumb for her indoor and outdoor plants.  Virginia loved cooking and baking from scratch and her family especially enjoyed her pies and tortes. She and Donald enjoyed weaving rugs together.  They loved being in the woods together making firewood. Virginia would always make time for a little Polka dancing with Donald, or a good game of Sheepshead with her family and friends.  She also remained a very active member with her church family, being a member of the Women's Guild, funeral luncheons, quilting workshops as well as other committees.

She is survived by her children:  Karen Criter, AZ, Dale Klemme, Prairie du Chien, Chuck (Kris) Klemme, Plymouth, Peggy Klemme, Wauwatosa, Steve (Mary Beth) Klemme, Kiel, Deb Coenen, Appleton, and Mark Klemme (David Burney), Wauwatosa; 13 grandchildren: Cory (Jamie) Criter, Paula (Danny) Spencer, Tony (Sara) Klemme, Betsy Lyons, Tim (Emily) Klemme, Aaron Klemme, Ben Klemme, Beth Ann (Mark) Desjardin, Laura (Justin) Rooker, Erin Thorn, Trent Bebermeier, Angie (Alex) Fraundorf and Nick (Jamie) Coenen; and 19 great-grandchildren.  Virginia is further survived by her sister, Janice Woelfel, sister-in-law: Dottie Klemme, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, daughter-in-law: Cheryl Mader; brother and sisters: Marcella (Ralph) Klemme, Irene (Robert) Lindemann, Carl (Selma) Mayer; and brothers-in-law: Leroy Woelfel and Marvin Klemme.

Funeral services for Virginia will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at St. Peter's UCC, (424 Fremont St. Kiel).  Officiating at the service will be Rev. Nicole Herda with burial to follow at Kiel Belitz Cemetery following the service.  The family will greet relatives and friends at the church from 9:00AM until 10:45AM when brief family rites will be held.

In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established in Virginia's name.

The family would like to thank Field of Dreams as well as Heartland Hospice for the outstanding care given to our mom during her time there.
