Obituary

Virginia Ann "Ginny Ann" Curry, 68, of New Holstein, passed away unexpectedly Saturday evening, December 1, 2018, at her residence in New Holstein.
She was born on September 4, 1950, to Henry C. and Virginia Timm Meyer. Virginia attended New Holstein schools graduating with the class of 1968. Among her many high school activities and honors she was elected Homecoming Queen as a sophomore and as a senior,  hosted an AFS student, Yoshie Wada from Japan.  Following graduation she attended Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, where she earned a degree in education.  Prior to beginning her teaching career at Steffan Middle School in Mequon, Wisconsin, she traveled to Japan for an extended visit with the Wada family. Ginny's teaching career has continued in New Holstein, where she was currently employed as a Middle School teacher.
On August 17, 1974, she married her childhood sweetheart and first love, William C. Curry.  With the exception of a few early years, they have made their home in New Holstein for the past 40 years.
Ginny Ann lived her life for those she loved.  Her devotion to family and friends was evident in all she did. Her kind, gentle and giving spirit were the qualities that guided her actions.   When time allowed, she and Bill spent many cherished moments along the shores of Lake Superior or surrounded by family at their cottage on Lake Winnebago.  Ginny Ann's love of nature and animals began at a very young age and continued throughout her life.
Ginny Ann was proud of her New Holstein heritage and her family's role in the community.  She actively promoted New Holstein's history by serving on the board of the New Holstein Historical Society and the city's Historic Preservation Committee. Ginny Ann was a dedicated lifelong member of St John United Church of Christ.  She bettered the community as both a dedicated teacher and devoted mentor to the many students who came through the doors of her classroom.
Virginia is survived by her loving husband, William C. Curry; her children, William Henry (Paula) Curry, Anthony Curry (Afsaneh Saraf), Elizabeth (Stas) Kusak, and Philip Curry (Mary Gainey); three grandchildren, William Curry, Isabel and Violet Kusak, and a fourth expected soon. She is further survived by her brother, Richard Henry Meyer and sister Mary Emily (Steve) Anhalt, and many other extended family members.
