Theresa E.
Mayr
Mar 29, 1936 — Jan 13, 2022
Town of Meeme
Theresa E. Mayr, age 85, formerly of the Town of Meeme, died peacefully from congestive heart failure complications on January 13, 2022
in Sheboygan, WI
.
Theresa was born on March 29, 1936 in Sheboygan, the seventh of eight children of the late Hugo and Kathryn (Lodes) Wagner. She graduated from Central High School in 1954, then worked for Kohler Co. In July 1955 she married Roger Mayr at St. Wendel Catholic Church in Cleveland. Theresa joined Roger in early 1956 in England where he was stationed in the Army. They lived there for a year, had their first child, and then moved to Germany. They returned from overseas in 1958 and worked the Mayr family farm in the School Hill area, first with Roger's parents and then with their growing family.
Theresa was a loving, hard-working mother and wife who raised eight children and tackled the daily household demands of typical life on a dairy farm. After the farm was sold in the early '70s, Theresa returned to work at Kohler Co., working in the Brass Division for 28 years until retiring in 2006. Her co-workers adored her bubbly personality and nicknamed her Mother Theresa. She and Roger enjoyed traveling and visiting with family and friends across the continental United States, South America, England, Germany, Hawaii, and India. Theresa enjoyed knitting, quilting, singing, gardening, and corresponding with family and friends in the U.S. and overseas. Her endless generosity, humor, and kindness brightened everyone's lives and made the world a better place.
For the past 3 years, Theresa lived at the Sheboygan Senior Community where, perhaps for the first time in her life, someone else did all the cooking and laundry for her. She enjoyed her time at SSC, easily making friends with other residents and engaging in the social, musical, worship, and art activities. Theresa's family is grateful for the SSC staff's loving, dedicated care, especially amid the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Theresa is survived by her children Mark (Sharon) Mayr of Ellicott City, MD; Peter (Molly) Mayr of New Holstein; David (Cynthia) Mayr of Rock Springs; Carol (John) Loeffler of Sheboygan; Jane Lau of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA; Paul (Kelly) Mayr of Highlands Ranch, CO; and Maria Wusterbarth of Las Vegas, NV. Theresa is further survived by her brother Peter Wagner of Athelstane and over 30 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Theresa is preceded in death by her husband Roger Mayr; daughter Catherine Mayr; granddaughter Rose Mayr; brothers Robert, Ralph, and Edward Wagner; and sisters Bernice Dassler, Rose Mary Walton, and Catherine Wagner.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 29 at Holy Trinity Church in School Hill. The family will greet relatives and friends at the church that morning from 9:00 am until mass. A private inurnment will take place at Calvary Chapel Mausoleum in Manitowoc at a later date. Condolences can be sent to Carol Loeffler, 4304 Lakeshore Rd., Sheboygan, WI 53083.
