Steve R.
Rumpff
Jan 10, 1956 — Sep 6, 2022
Kiel
Steve R. Rumpff, age 66, passed away peacefully on Tuesday afternoon, September 6, 2022 at Sharon S. Richardson Hospice, surrounded by his family. Steve was born on January 10, 1956, in Kiel, to Lloyd and Darlean (Spindler) Rumpff. He graduated from Kiel High School in 1974. On October 23, 1976, he married his high school sweetheart, Ruthie Reese at the First Presbyterian Church in Kiel. Steve worked in a variety of manufacturing companies and have made lifelong friends along the way. In 2019 he retired from Sargento and was looking forward to spending more time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
One of the most important things to Steve was spending time with his family, especially his grandkids, who he loved with his whole heart and would bend over backwards to make them smile or laugh. Steve was the kind of person who would drop everything he was doing to go help his kids, drive to another state for crab legs, go to the casino in the middle of the night when he had a lucky feeling, or even come over and clip a hangnail off his grandchildren's finger. He was loved by so many people and even in his short life he touched so many lives. We were the lucky ones to have known him. Besides family time, his second passion was traveling on his Harley Davidson and being a lifetime member of HOG. They also loved to travel throughout the United States from Maine to Washington up to Alaska and many wonderful places in between. It didn't matter if it was on their Harley or in the car. One of their favorite trips was to South Dakota on their Harley with their daughters in the sidecar. Steve and Ruthie also enjoyed taking cruises together to different parts of the world and making new friends along the way. He looked forward to taking a yearly trip to Las Vegas with his family where he loved playing Blackjack till the wee hours of the morning, cracking jokes, and enjoying every moment he spent with family.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Ruthie, he is survived by two daughters: Rachel (Aaron) Suttner and Caryn (Dan) Bruckschen; his grandchildren, Aubree, Paisley, Keatyn and Mavryk; his brothers and sister, Tim (Deb) Rumpff, Kerry (Sharon) Rumpff and Bonnie (Pat) Hoban and his sister–in-law, Linda (Kevin) Smith-Hammond. He is further survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Steve was preceded in death by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lucille and Ervin Reese, as well as aunts, uncles, and grandparents.
Funeral Services for Steve will be held on Sunday, September 11, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. at Bethlehem United Church of Christ (11608 Lax Chapel Road, Kiel) with Randy Koppenhaver officiating. The family will greet family and friends on Sunday, at the church, from 12:30 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. Private family burial will be at Kiel Belitz Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Steve's name to the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice, Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic, University of Wisconsin Madison Carbone Cancer Center for everything they did.
