Obituary

Scott Schmitt, 61, of St. Anna died surrounded by family after a short battle with cancer on Monday, May 11, 2026. Scott was born February 28, 1965, the son of Randy and Hope (Mascotti) Schmitt of New Holstein. He was a graduate of New Holstein High School, with the class of 1983. On April 26, 1986 he married Diane Turba of St. Anna at St. Anna Catholic Church.

Scott was a man of a few words, his actions spoke louder than words; he was always willing to help anyone. It was very important to Scott that he passed his strong work ethic to his boys; and he did just that. He was employed at Miller Manufacturing in New Holstein for 40 years. In addition, Scott volunteered as an active fire fighter and served 40 years between the New Holstein and St. Anna Fire Departments. He was also very active in the St. Anna Parish buildings and grounds and cemetery sexton. Scott enjoyed spending his spare time farming, cutting wood and spending time with his grandchildren. He had the most special, fun-loving relationship with his grandsons.

Scott is survived by his wife Diane of 40 years and his three sons, Curtis (Kristin) Schmitt, Tyler (Jenna) Schmitt and their 2 children, Elliott and Ivy, Brett (Kayla) Schmitt and their 2 children, Leo and Cora; his father Randy Schmitt. Scott is further survived by brothers Kevin (Sheryl) Schmitt and Stephen (Stacey) Schmitt and their children.; father-in-law; Ken Turba, brothers and sisters-in-law: Joyce Turba, Sr. Elaine Turba, Karen (Chuck) Schneider, Jean (Larry) Rach, Paul (Carolyn) Turba, Don (Jane) Turba, Andrew (Elizabeth) Turba, Lori (Jeff) Beck, Margie (Dan) La Pean; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and family friends.

Scott was preceded in death by his mother, Hope Schmitt, mother-in-law, Lydia Turba; and maternal and paternal grandparents.
