Obituary

Sandra Steffen, 86, of Kiel died Sunday morning May 19, 2024 at Calumet Medical Center, Chilton. She is the former Sandra Steinhardt, born on April 22, 1938 in Sheboygan, daughter of the late Alfred and Alyce (Kuester) Steinhardt. Sandy attended Kiel schools and was 1956 graduate of Kiel High School.

On May 14, 1960 she was united in marriage to Allen Steffen in Charlestown. Allen preceded her in death on January 29, 2017. Sandy took great pride in being at home and raising her family. She also worked at A&W, Held's and Millhome Supper Club as a cook and waitress during those years. Family always came first and she enjoyed caring for her grandchildren for many years.

Sandy was an active member of St. Peter UCC Kiel where she sang in the choir and was a member of the bell choir. She also knitted and sewed countless hats, mittens and scarfs for church to be donated to local charities. Allen kept a large garden which meant Sandy was always busy canning the crops they grew. Her weekly card games and bowling allowed her to get out and have fun with her many friends and longtime card club. She was an avid Brewer fan and enjoyed listening to the game whenever she could. Most important to Sandy was the time she would spend with her family. Family get-to-gethers and holidays were always filled with homemade foods that she lovingly prepared.

Survivors include her children; Steve (Sharon) Steffen, Lisa (David) Franzen, Scott Steffen, Mike (Lori) Steffen, Lynn (Kurt) Van Pietersom, Lorie (Terry) Becher, Kelly Horneck, Mark (Gina) Steffen, grandchildren; Sara (Eric) Woelfel, Michael (Angie) Franzen, Allen Steffen (Allyson Jeanty), Ashley (Tyler) Barber, A.J. Becher, Jacob Horneck and Dylan Steffen. Further survivd by one great grandchild; Olin Woelfel, step grandchildren and step great grandchildren, a sister-in-law; Audrey Mertens along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; Allen, daughter-in-law; Laurie (Stahl) Steffen, son-in-law; Arlyn Horneck, grandson; Joshua Franzen along with brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Leander (Mary) Steffen, Arlyn (Luann) Steffen, Willy and Hermes Steffen, Randy (LaVern) Steffen, Kenneth (Rosemary) Steffen, Genevieve (Alois) Heimann, Celestine Steffen and William Mertens.
