Obituary

Sandra (Sandy, Sam, Sammy) May Brown, age 70, formerly of Baltimore, MD and more recently Kiel, WI, died peacefully with her family on August 15, 2018.

Sandy was born April 29, 1948, in Baltimore, Maryland to Thelma and James Perry. She graduated from Patterson High School in Baltimore in 1966.

She met Joseph Brown in August 1968 at a bus station where mutual friends would meet to carpool to Camp Lejeune. Sandy and Joe were married in Essex, Maryland on September 11, 1971, and spent years joking their initial interest in one another was sparked because each thought the other was "loaded" with money. The 50
th anniversary of this meeting just passed and they were coming up on 47 years married next month.

Sandy worked in an administrative career with Baltimore City but retired from that career to raise her daughter, Kelly, full-time. She dedicated a significant amount of her time to children, her own and others, working as a public school cafeteria lady to share a schedule with Kelly, and then later as a childcare aide. She never thought twice about helping a child in need, in and out of the classroom. The same was true for animals and over the years she opened her home to cats, dogs, bunnies, and birds.
Sandy loved reading, and also enjoyed cross-stitch and other crafts, camping, expanding her endless collection of candles, and watching crime dramas and horror movies.

After retirement and the family's move to Wisconsin, she loved visits to the casino with Joe where she prided herself on stretching $20 over several hours. Shopping with Kelly was one of her favorite pastimes and she was a seasoned day after Thanksgiving shopper, often starting the day at dawn and not returning home until well after dark.

Sandy is survived by her husband Joe, her daughter Kelly and son-in-law Dave Jamrozy, her cat Peanutty, and her granddog Findlay.

Sandy and her family have chosen to forego a memorial service, but friends, family, and loved ones are invited to share their remembrances and pay respects via a handwritten letter to Sandy's husband or daughter, or by sharing their thoughts in a private message here.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Eastshore Humane Association (eastshoreha.org) or the ALS Association (alsa.org).

The family would also like to thank the staff at Sharon S. Richardson Hospice.
