Obituary

Randal "Randy" Gene Freis, 68, of Kiel died Wednesday evening April 8, 2020.  His life journey ended after many years of dialysis due to kidney disease.
Randal was born in Sheboygan, son of Lowell & Edythe (Sieling) Freis on July 6, 1951. He  grew up in Kiel attending SS Peter & Paul Catholic Grade School and Kiel High School, Class of 1969.  After High School he attended UW Madison where he fulfilled his dream of playing football and basketball as a Badger.
After college, he moved to Florida for a few years. He then moved back to Kiel to help his father, Lowell, with the Family business, Freis Von Kiel.  While living in Kiel he was an avid softball player in the Kiel Men's Rec. League.
Randy truly loved the game of all sports, where he broke many records at the Kiel High School. His performance exceeded many for a small town like Kiel.
After his father passed away, he took over the family food business of Freis Von Kiel, which he continued to run until his passing. He truly enjoyed being on the road and building relationships with every single one of his customers. Randy's other passion was to visit the casinos to play Blackjack.
In 1996, Randy married Valerie and together they had a daughter, Alayna, who is the real love of his life.
He is survived by his daughter, Alayna Freis, Lakewood CO, his two brothers; Ted Freis & Dean Freis of Kiel, his sister and brother-in-law; Heidi (Bob Jr.) Werdeo also of Kiel. Further survived by his former wife Valerie (Mark) Sabel of Kiel, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and dear friends.
In addition to his parents, Randy was preceded in death by two brothers; Gary Freis & Jeffrey Freis and a sister, Cheryl Bornemann.
A special thank you to DaVita Dialysis in Sheboygan for over 10 years of care. Also to the Doctors at Froedert Hospital of Milwaukee, Dr. Brooks in Sheboygan, Dr. Deubler in Kiel and the support team at Sharon S. Richardson Hospice.
