Obituary

Michael Konen, 66, of Kiel, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay.

Mike was born on February 10, 1960, in Chilton, the son of the late Jerry and Lorraine (Zorn) Konen. He attended St. Peter & Paul Grade School and graduated from Kiel High School in 1978. After graduation, he proudly joined the family business, Konen Landscaping, working alongside his father and brothers. Following his father's passing in 1987, Mike and his brother, Dean, carried on the family legacy, taking over the business which was later renamed Konen Sales & Trucking.

On April 16, 1982, Mike married the love of his life, Pamela Follstad, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein. Together they built a beautiful life and shared 43 wonderful years of marriage. Pam preceded him in death on December 15, 2025. Though losing her left an irreplaceable void in his heart, Mike carried her love with him every day.

Through years of dedication and hard work, Mike continued to own and operate the family business, later known as Konen Sales & Service with Pam, where he continued selling and servicing lawn and garden equipment. The Konen family business has been part of the Kiel community for more than 50 years, a legacy Mike worked tirelessly to preserve and took immense pride in.

Above all else, Mike was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His family was his whole world and the moments he treasured most were the ones spent together. He will be remembered for his contagious laugh, quick wit, and genuine nature that left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. He found joy in life's simple pleasures—weekend getaways with Pam, spending time with family and friends, caring for his lawn and gardens, and watching the birds and wildlife.

Mike is survived by his cherished daughters, Jenny (Marshall) Watts and Jean Heller; his beloved grandson, Finnley Heller, who brought endless light and happiness to his life; and his granddog, Brady.

He is further survived by his siblings, Dianne (Walt) Gierke, Kay Konen, Mark (Rosi) Konen, and Dean (Tammy) Konen; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Faye Konen, Bill (Chris) Follstad, Jodi (Jim) Schumacher, Jill (Brian) Westermeyer, and Missy (Rick) Stermer; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Mike was preceded in death by his wife, Pamela; his parents, Jerry and Lorraine Konen; his brother, Gary Konen; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Thomas Follstad and Joyce Fesing.

Mike's absence leaves an immense void in the lives of those who loved him, but his legacy of hard work, devotion, laughter, and unwavering love for his family will live on in their hearts forever.
