Obituary

Mary Jo Schneider, 66, of Sheboygan, passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2025 in Evanston, IL.  Mary Jo was born on February 2, 1959 to Kenneth and Irene Schneider in Sheboygan, WI. In childhood, she spent summers up north on White Lake in Suring, WI with her parents and sisters, Jan Schneider and Kay Knaub. She graduated in 1977 from South High School and went on to UW-Milwaukee where she earned a degree in Educational Studies in 1984.

Mary Jo was a faithful follower of Jesus. It wasn't only a focus on Sunday mornings, but set to live her life on fire for him. Later on, She went to missionary school in Ohio to become a knowledgeable disciple.

Mary Jo was a beloved aunt to Chris Knaub and Erika Hintz and great aunt to Ava and Ollie, and Charlie and Max. She loved to play and was filled with tremendous joy spending time with her great-niece and nephews. It amazed us how she could keep up with them, whatever yard game they were playing. She also kept a trunk load of tennis rackets in the case she came upon a partner to play with.

She shared her love for life and God with all of those around her. She served her clients at work with a joyful heart and spent time getting to know them, learning their life stories and caring for them in a way that was meaningful to them. Mary Jo was always active in her church community and even started an encouragers group to encourage others through difficult times. Mary Jo did not always have an easy journey on this earth, but because of this she was filled with compassion for those struggling. In fact, it was in one of these difficult times, that she came to know Jesus.

She also knew how to enjoy the good times. She enjoyed traveling and took many different trips with friends or family. She loved giving gifts and always put such thought into celebrating others. Mary was full of laughter and fun and we would often laugh with her about some of her quirky qualities.

Mary Jo was deeply loved by her family and friends and will be missed as she leaves us behind on this temporary home of earth. The great news is, we can rejoice knowing that she is at peace and united with her one true love, her Savior, Jesus Christ, who died for all. Though we all die in flesh, we will live forever through him.  Mary Jo is survived by sisters Jan Schneider (life partner Michael Sielaff), Kay Knaub (spouse John Knaub), nephew Christopher Knaub (spouse Lea Knaub), niece Erika Hintz (spouse Paul Hintz), great niece Ava Knaub and great nephews Charlie Hintz, Max Hintz and Oliver Knaub.

Services will be held on Friday, May 30 at 11am at Bethel Baptist Church in Sheboygan (2411 Weeden Creek Rd), with visitation starting at 10am.
