Obituary

Mary Ann Majkrzak of Kiel, age 95, died November 23, 2025. She was born July 11, 1930 in Sheboygan to Henry & Clara Braun Schuh. In 1931, the family moved to Kiel. She attended St. Peter & Paul school for 6 years. In 1942, Mary Ann moved to her grandfathers farm in Whitelaw to care for her aged great uncle, thus beginning a lifetime of selfless caregiving service to others. In 1944 she graduated from St Michael's grade school, then from Valders high school in 1948, much of the while serving as a caregiver to aging relatives while her family remained in Kiel. After graduation, she moved to Chicago with her sister Geraldine working as a waitress. In 1951 she met Edwin Majkrzak and they married May 17, 1952 at St. Peter and Paul Church in Kiel. The couple settled in Skokie Illinois. She gave birth to her only child Ed jr. in 1955.

In the spring of 1963, the family returned to Kiel, where she lived the remaining 62 years of her life. She touched many lives over the years as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and strong leader and role model for her large family and many friends. Her many activities included tending to her meticulously clean home and yard, gardening, and canning. She was an avid card player and puzzle solver, bowled in leagues & golfed. She also volunteered at St Vincent's, cleaned at the catholic school, was a den mother and belonged to Christian Mother's Society. She was a lifelong member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiel. But her greatest contributions were as a caregiver, first as a young girl, later taking care of her family, her father in her home for a decade, then her disabled husband for over thirty years, as well as anyone else be it neighbor, friend or family who needed a helping hand or a boost in their lives, as a babysitter, a shoulder to cry on, or a helping hand on almost any project that needed to get done.

Survivors include her son Ed jr, her grandson Matthew, his wife Lindsey, many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and all her siblings and their spouses, her sister Geraldine (Floyd) and brothers Henry (Angie), Edward (Helen), Eugene (Wanda) and Gerald (Lucille).

A special thanks to Kim and the entire staff at Calumet County Hospice who cared for Mary Ann the last seven months in a manner consistent with how she treated her loved ones all these years. The final two months the team at Abridge assisted living in chilton cared for Mary Ann, they were fantastic caregivers. The folks who provide this service are living angels on this earth, and cannot be given enough appreciation. God bless them all!
