Kathleen "Kathy"
Elaine Henschel
Mar 23, 1951 — May 17, 2023
Kiel
Kathleen "Kathy" Elaine Henschel, 72, went to be with the Lord, May 17th 2023 at the Sharon Richardson Hospice Center.
She was born on March 23rd, 1951, in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, to the parents of Jeanold and Jane (Herzog) Schmidt.
She was married to Gerald "Jerry" Henschel (52 years) and had 4 children, Wendy (Jeff) Meyer, Jamie (Heather) Henschel, Jody (Todd) Binversie, and Kerri (Steve) DeTroye. She enjoyed her 10 Grandchildren, Cody Braun, Marissa (Cameron) Fitzgerald, Jon (Fiancé Emily Leschke) Meyer, Courtney, Ryan, Emily Binversie, Ellen & Timothy DeTroye, Wyatt & Hailey Henschel, and one great-grandchild, McKenna Fitzgerald.
Kathy was known for hard work and keeping her hands busy. She farmed with Jerry for many years and went on to work and retire from the Kohler Company. Kathy didn't rest with retirement, as she spent her time being with her family and doing the things she loved as best she could.
Jerry and Kathy spent many hours chasing their children and grandchildren to all their sporting events. You would see them on the sidelines of the football field, court side during volleyball and basketball, and then behind the backstop for the baseball and softball games. When she wasn't chasing her children around, she was an active member of the Feather and Flowers Garden Club in Kiel. Kathy loved spring and summer because she could get her hands in the dirt planting and tending to her flowers. She had a small greenhouse to start her seeds and she spent hours of time caring for and rearranging plants even if it meant working in unconventional ways. She took great pride in her yard.
Kathy is further survived by her sister and brother, Susan (David) Kissinger, Jeffrey (Renee) Schmidt, and sister-in-law Janice (Bill) Brass and many nieces and nephews.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Jeanold and Jane Schmidt, brother Gary Schmidt, In laws Harvey and Norma Henschel, brother & sister-in-law Ronald & Jackie Henschel, and Godson Jason Kissinger.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. at St. Peter's UCC Church (424 Fremont Street, Kiel) with Rev. Nicole Herda officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday, at the church, from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service. A memorial will be set up in her name.
The family would like to thank the ICU staff at Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay and the compassionate staff at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice in Sheboygan Falls.
