John J. Rahmer, 74, of rural Elkhart Lake, died Monday, January 4, 2016 at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center with his daughter at his side.
He was born on October 9, 1941 in Milwaukee, son of the late Joseph & Irene (Beuchel) Rahmer. John was a graduate of New Holstein High School.
Martha S. Hutchison and John were united in marriage on May 7, 1976 in Chilton. Martha preceded him in death on November 23, 2003.
John had worked at Tecumseh Products, New Holstein for 39 years, retiring in 2005.
He was a very hard working man who taught himself many things including building his own log cabin home and he loved doing all kinds of different projects. He further enjoyed gardening, including finding unusual and unique trees and plants for his yard especially daylilies and peonies.
Survivors include his four children; Sheila, Michael, Sara and David Rahmer, one daughter-in-law, Heather Sasman (fiancee, Patrick Blevons) and four grandchildren; Dylan, Caleb, Zoey and Carter Rahmer. He is also survived by brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and infant grandson, Kyle Dobry.
Funeral services for John will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, January 8, 2016 at Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home, 815 6th St.. Kiel. Burial will take place in Trinity Cemetery, Town of Rhine.
Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 12:00pm (noon) until the time of service.
