Joel Klopfenstein, 52, of Kiel, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, July 28, 2019 of an apparent heart attack at St. Nicolas Hospital in Sheboygan.

He was born on November 1, 1966 in West Bend, son of Richard Klopfenstein and the late Virginia (Keith) Klopfenstein. He was a graduate of Kiel High School with the class of 1985.

On August 12, 1988 he married Laura Augustine. Joel formerly worked as a Robotics Technician and was a truck driver for R & L Trucking. He had a great love of music, enjoyed cooking, gardening and feeding & watching the birds. He was passionate about his dogs. Joel's best times were spent with family and friends especially his nephew, Austin. He found comfort in his faith throughout his struggles.

Joel is survived by his wife, Laura; his father and step-mother: Richard and Maureen Klopfenstein; his brothers: Jeff Klopfenstein, Iowa; and John Klopfenstein, Ohio; his sister: Joanne (Clift) Garrett, South Carolina; his father-in-law and mother-in-law: LeRoy "PeeWee" and Shirley Arndt; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Annette (Rick) Sachse, Randall (Pilar) Arndt, and Daniel (Emy) Arndt. He is further survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Joel is preceded in death by his mother, Virginia; his daughter, Carrie Ann; and his father-in-law, Thomas Augustine.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:30pm on Sunday, August 4, 2019 at Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home (815 6 ^th St., Kiel) with Deacon Paul Gleichner officiating, a cousin to the family. A time of visitation and support will take place at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:00pm until the time of service at 3:30pm.

In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established in Joel's name.
