Jim R. Wiskerchen, age 68, the town of New Holstein, died unexpectedly Saturday evening, December 2, 2017 at Calumet Medical Center, Chilton surrounded by his loving family.
Jim was born in Sheboygan, February 7, 1949 to the late Roman P. & Dorothy A. (Schad) Wiskerchen. He was a 1967 graduate of Kiel High School. Jim went on to complete the Farmers Short Course in Madison and returned home to join the family farm in 1968. On May 5, 1973 he married Vicki Kraemer at St. Peters UCC and they purchased the family farm that same year. Jim and Vicki proudly ran the dairy farm together for 35 years, deciding in 2008 to sell the herd and continue cash cropping through present day. He took great pride in learning his craft, shown by his completion of the Farm Business & Production Mgmt degree in 1993. There was never a piece of equipment that couldn't be fixed once Jim went to work. Besides being a farmer, Jim was a bus driver for Kiel Transportation for the past nine years and loved the kids on his route. More than anything he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren. "Bapa" would stop everything to take them for tractor, bus, and combine rides; always making special memories with them. Jim was also an avid Wisconsin sports fan; he never missed the chance to coach the teams through the TV.
Jim is survived by his wife of 44 years, Vicki; his two children: Matthew (Cecilia) Wiskerchen, Wrightstown; Kay (Shawn) Keifenheim, New Holstein; his three grandchildren: Abby Keifenheim, Emma and Henry Wiskerchen; his sister, Joan (Gary) Winkler, New Holstein; his father-in-law & mother-in-law, Bob & Joyce Kraemer; brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law: Paula (Dale) Weavers, Chris Kraemer (Pam), Monica (Kevin) Polster, Karel (Tom) Ecker, Lana (Joe) Gaedke, and Amy (Alan) Winkel. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his niece, Kathy Winkler.
Funeral services will be held at 6:00 pm on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home (815 6th St, Kiel) with Rev. Nick Hatch officiating. Cremation will occur following the service and he will be laid to rest at a later date at Schleswig Cemetery.
The family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 2:00 pm until time of service at 6:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a charitable donation.
A special thank you to Calumet Medical Center, Chilton ER for their support through all of this.
