Obituary

Jeanne Rapelje Koehn, 60, of Kiel entered the gates of Heaven surrounded by those she loved on Friday October 2, 2026. Her 16-year courageous battle with cancer ended on her mother's birthday. She is no longer suffering and in the arms of Jesus. She was born on January 9, 1966, at Fort Meade in Maryland, where her father was stationed with the US Air Force. She is the daughter of the late Janice L. (Miller) and Eugene H. Rapelje. Jeanne attended Cleveland High School in St. Louis, MO.

On November 26, 1994 she was united in marriage to Brett Koehn in Kiel. As her family grew, she made sure to have an open house for all her children's friends. She delighted in running an at-home daycare for many years. As her children grew, Jeanne became a realtor and broker for Pleasantview Realty. She took great pride in helping the families who called upon her for their real estate needs. Jeanne cherished being among the earliest active and integral members that developed and established the foundations of Kiel Alliance Church.

Above all else, family was the most important part of her life. She enjoyed playing games, especially the family card game, Dirty Canasta, that has been passed down through generations. Jeanne loved to sing, dance, and laugh. With love, she took embarrassing her children to an artform. Her favorite song to sing to her children was, You are My Sunshine. She was God’s sunshine to so many. Her light and faith have and will continue to shine through all those that had the honor and blessing to know her.

Survivors include her children; Tabitha (Beau) Walsdorf, Amanda (Mike Lecher) Koehn, Emma Koehn (Owen Hennigan), Ben Koehn (Emma Evenson), her beloved grandchildren; Harper, Oliver, Everett, Wylder, Ava and Olivia. She is also survived by her sisters and brother; Debbie (George) Lang, Sheryl Hudson, Mike (Carol) Rapelje, her former husband; Brett (Melissa) Koehn. Jeanne is further survived by very special nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was reunited in Heaven with her parents and her niece Kimberly Hudson.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at Kiel Alliance Church (310 Fremont Street). A time of visitation and support will take place from 10:00am until 11:45am; brief family rites will be held before the church service. The memorial church service will begin at 12:00pm. Cremation has taken place. At a later date, she will be laid to rest next to her mother.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in her name for Kiel Alliance Church. https://kielalliancechurch.churchcenter.com/giving Jeanne's family would like to thank the caring staff at Rocky Knoll for all their compassion and friendship, and Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for keeping her comfortable in her last days. Grief is hard, but God is good. And the Lord said unto Jeanne upon entering His arms, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” Matthew 25:21 (ESV).
