Jeanette L.
Maurer
Apr 8, 1931 — Sep 29, 2026
Kiel
Jeanette L. Maurer, 95, of Kiel died peacefully on Tuesday morning September 29, 2026 at Field of Dreams Assisted Living, Kiel. She is the former Jeanette Pautz born on April 8, 1931 in the Town of Rantoul, Calumet County to the late Elmer and Hilda (Bartel) Pautz.
Jeanette was a graduate of Chilton High School, after which she moved to Kiel and worked at the Hansen Glove factory. On May 10, 1952 she was united in marriage to Daniel Maurer at Peace UCC, Brillion. Daniel and Jeanette shared nearly 47 years together before he preceded her in death on February 5, 1999. They enjoyed big band dancing and traveled to many ballrooms over the years, as far as Chicago. Jeanette followed the Jerry Schneider polka hour on the radio for life. She quit work in 1957 to lovingly raise her two girls. During those years, Jeanette found ways to support the community, becoming a Sunday school teacher and lifelong member of UCC Kiel, and local Girl Scout leader. She was a cook, quilter and seamstress, sewing many identical outfits for the girls and Barbie outfits that were intricate and creative. Jeanette was a longtime caregiver for her elderly mother-in-law Wanda, and a home daycare provider for 2 young children. She returned to various factory jobs afterwards, enjoying the camaraderie and working well into her retirement years. Jeanette was proud of independently maintaining the rural homestead they built in 1976; gardening, watching and feeding the birds (particularly cardinals). Jeanette loved nothing more than getting on the John Deer tractor, cutting two acres of lawn well into her 90s! We will remember Jeanette as a sweet lady with an iron will.
Survivors include her daughters; Cheryl Bell (Gordon Julius III) of Holland, MI, Judith Billmann (Jeff Belisle) of Sheboygan. Jeanette cherished time with her grandchildren; Jacob (Riley) Billmann, Ellen (Tyler) Cizek, Taylor (Jackie) Billmann, and great grandchildren; Brooks and Brody. Also surviving are brother; David (Sue) Pautz, sister; Vernice (Earl) Krueger, along with nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Daniel, brothers; Lester (Ethel) Pautz, Norman (Barb) Pautz, Leroy Pautz, sister; Blanche (Dale) Wasmuth.
The family would like to thank Sharon Richardson Hospice and the staff at Field of Dreams for the special care given to mom.
