Becker
Jan 28, 1929 — Jul 4, 2024
Kiel
Janice Cornelia Elsie (Saaman) Becker, 95, of Kiel, passed away Thursday, July 4, 2024, at Field of Dreams Assisted Living. Janice was born January 28, 1929, in Kohler, to the late Cornelius and Martha (Schelk) Saaman. On August 11, 1945, she married Wallace Becker at St. Andrew Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. Together they raised nine children, operated a dairy farm, and enjoyed a good life together. Wally preceded her in death on April 1, 1991. She earned her High School Diploma as an adult student and graduated, with honors from Lakeshore Technical College.
Janice was a talented quilter and proudly displayed many of her creations, especially her cardinal quilt at the Wade House in Greenbush. She was never still—always making time to hone her skills of quilting, knitting, embroidery, gardening, canning, and baking. Her gardens on the farm were abundant with vegetables and always adorned with a beautiful flower garden. She enjoyed all kinds of card games from sheepshead to rummy. Janice loved to play the organ at home and occasionally for worship at Greenbush Methodist Church where she and her husband attended with their family. Janice enjoyed being a part of the local Homemakers Club where she made lasting friendships. Her life was full, and she will forever be remembered with love by many.
She is survived by her children, Julie (Eldon) Rosenthal, Mary Feavel, James (Karen) Becker, Sandra (David) Rabe, Marlene (Brian) Blatz, Wallace Jr. (Linda) Becker and Robert (Barbara) Becker; 25 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; her daughter-in-law, Charlene (DeSmidt) Becker, her sister, Karen (Saaman) Richter, and numerous friends and relatives. In addition to her parents and her husband, Wallace, she was preceded in death by her son David, her daughter Cheryl (Stephen) Huesemann, her grandson Randall Feavel, her brothers, Melvin (Agnes) and Gilbert (Sidonia) Saaman and her brother-in-law, Robert Richter.
Funeral services for Janice will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at New Hope United Methodist Church (W7797 Center Road, Greenbush). Visitation will be on Tuesday, at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will follow at the Greenbush Cemetery. Please visit www.meiselwitzfh.com to send online condolences.
