Obituary

James W. H. Lindow, 86, formerly of Kiel, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 26, 2022 at Pine Haven Assisted Living in Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on October 29, 1936 in Plymouth, Wisconsin, a son of the late Palmer and Isabelle (DeTroye) Lindow.

Jim attended Howards Grove Schools. In 1955 he married Kathy Meyer. On June 6, 1970 he married Louann (Fessler) Drees in Waukesha, Wisconsin.

He worked for Kohler Co., Milwaukee Cheese, and Reinhart Foods. In 1979 he moved his family to Marquette, Michigan to assume the position of Branch Manager-Reinhart Foods. He lived in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan (Marquette, Big Bay, and Skanee) for 27 years before moving back to Kiel, Wisconsin in 2006.

Jim loved the outdoors, and he spent many hours on the lake and in the woods with his wife, children, stepchildren, and grandkids. Whether entertaining people in their home or frequenting local supper clubs, Jim enjoyed being with family and friends. He had a good memory and cared about his family, keeping up with each member and asking about their latest adventures. An avid outdoorsman, Jim hunted, shot trap, and four-wheeled all over the Upper Peninsula with friends. After retiring, Jim and Louann traveled throughout Europe, Australia, and the United States; to no one's surprise, Jim loved their adventures through the Alaska wilderness in particular. Dogs have always held a special place in Jim's heart, and he especially loved visits from his four-legged family members. Known for his quick wit, Jim had a smile on his face and a wisecrack in his pocket to the end.

In addition to his wife, Louann, survivors include son, Terry (Karen) Lindow, Sheboygan; daughter-in-law, Deanna Lindow, Plymouth; daughter, Laurie (Randy) Gutschow, Plymouth; and son, Patrick (Kristy Sibilsky), Marquette, MI. He is further survived by seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, Tom, Kam, Charlie, and Griffin Lindow, Menomonee Falls; Libby, Kary, Ben and Maggie Valley, Sheboygan; Garrett Lindow, of Plymouth; Parker (Kara Everson) Lindow, Waldo; Brandon, Andrea, Breeley, and Isabella Gutschow, Plymouth; Katie Lindow, Grand Rapids, MI; and Kyle, Chelsea, Cody, and Emily Vickerman, Cadillac, MI. He is also survived by eight stepchildren, Barbara (Dave) Brown, Rockville, MD; Jean (Al) Hunley, Pewaukee; Jan Drees, Elkhart Lake; Joe (Gemma) Drees, Sheboygan; Joan (Mike) Lawrence, Sheboygan; Julie (Tom Wilfahrt) Isenberg, New Ulm, MN; Beverly (her husband, David Dreher) Drees, Elkhart Lake; and Jim (Julie) Drees, Elkhart Lake. He is further survived by 21 step-grandchildren and 29 great step-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents, son, Jimmy Lindow, grandson Craig Gutschow, as well as many aunts, uncles, sisters-in-laws, brothers-in-laws, and friends.

To honor Jim's wishes, there will be no memorial service.

Jim's family expresses their appreciation to his many caregivers at Pine Haven Assisted Living, Cedar Bay Assisted Living and Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
