James P. Koenig, 73, formerly of rural New Holstein died Sunday morning January 11, 2026 at Elijah's Place Assisted Living, Oshkosh where he had been a resident for the past 3 years. He was born on August 28, 1952, in St. Joe, son of the late Walter and Rose (Steffes) Koenigs.

Jim graduated from Kiel High School in 1970 and Milwaukee School of Engineering in 1983. Since1983 until his health caused him to retire, he worked in sales for Kurt Joa Company in Sheboygan Falls. Jim had an intense interest in auto racing, especially Indy Cards. He enjoyed many trips to the Indy 500 and races at Elkhart Lake. His pride and joy was his Honda S2000. Jim also enjoyed golfing in his free time.

Survivors include his siblings; Marilyn Alley, Judy (Eugene) Winkel, John Koenigs, Jackie Anderson (Gene), Paul (Kathy) Koenigs, Peter (Sue) Koenigs along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Walter and Rose, sisters; Louella Ausloos and her husbands Walter Kohlmann and Thomas Ausloos, Sue Zimmerman-Fox, Barbara Winkler-Merten and her husbands James Winkler and Ernest Merten, brother-in-law; Lee Alley, sister-in-law; Lynn Koenigs

Cremation has taken place. Private family services will be held. Jim will be laid to rest next to his parents in the SS Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery, Kiel.
