Obituary

Elizabeth "Betty" Bonde, age 90, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 16, 2025.

Betty was born on July 31, 1934, to the late John & Angeline (Binversie) Koenig and grew up on the family farm in Meeme Township. She graduated from St. Fidelis School. In October of 1956, Betty married Roman Bonde. They made their home in School Hill and worked together to raise eight children there. Betty spent her remaining years at Garrow Villa Assisted Living in Brillion.

Betty was a prayerful woman, always making time for morning prayers, daily Mass and daily Rosaries. She was a devoted mother, working hard to make the house a home. This included gardening, canning, baking, and sewing, among other things. She was an active member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in School Hill, participating in the Christian Women's group, teaching Religious Education classes and singing in the choir. For more than two decades, Betty volunteered at the Salvatorian Mission Warehouse in New Holstein where she helped pack items to be sent to various worldwide mission operations.

Betty worked part-time at Bonde's Quik Mart in Cleveland in her retirement. She loved doing things with family, shopping with sisters, singing at Koenig family reunions, and visiting with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed being a part of many birthday parties and holiday gatherings, as well as Baptisms, First Communions and weddings. Her family will always remember her laughter. Her hobbies over the years included painting ceramics and taking bus trips with a friend or sister. Most recently, she occupied herself by knitting countless hats for different local charities.

She is survived by her children: David Bonde; Carl (Michelle) Bonde; Mary (Marnell) Tanner; Tim Bonde; Larry (Pat ) Bonde; Andrew (Margaret) Bonde; Lucy Bellerud and Will (Bev) Bonde.

Twenty-three Grandchildren: Chris Bonde, Jen (Ryan) Schild, Joe (Stacey) Bonde; Ted (Angela) Bonde; John (Lynn)Bonde; Renee (Bryan) Bracey) ; Carmel Tanner; Matt (Brittany) Bonde; Jordan Bonde; Phil (Bridget) Bonde; Miranda Bonde; Candace (Quintin) Roethel; Evan Bonde; Erin (Ryan) Reinken; Franki Bellerud; Jacob Bellerud; Nikki Bellerud; Liz (Lawton) Stier; Kathryn Bonde; Grace Bonde, Roman "R.J." Bonde; Logan Heraly and Briana Heraly-Bonde. Additionally, Betty leaves behind twenty-one Great-grandchildren and one Great-Great Grandchild. Betty is further survived by her sister LaVerne (Roman) Karls of Green Bay and brother-in-law, Donald Bonde of Newton. Numerous nieces and nephews also remain.

She was preceded in death by her husband Roman, son-in-law Dan Bellerud and her parents. Also, five brothers and their spouses: Victor (Margaret, Alice) Koenig, Roman (Theresa) Koenig, Sylvester (Alice) Koenig, Robert (Evelyn) Koenig and Tom (Marie) Koenig; six sisters and their spouses: Ruth (Francis) Scharenbroch, Laura (Ashley) Wagner, Anna Mae (Donald) Stoelb, Margaret Bonde, Arlene (Alfred) Schad, and Virginia (Jerry) Neumeyer. Many other sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law have also gone before her. We have faith that she is surrounded by their loving peace as she enters eternal life.
