On May 21, 1960, he married the love of his life; Mary Ann Rieth at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. He recently was able to go on the Honor Flight, taking in all of the sights and enjoying every part of the trip. Baseball was a huge part of DuWayne's life, starting when he was little and continuing until he was 80 years old; coaching his sons as well as umpiring for the East Shore and Lakeshore Leagues for many years. DuWayne could be found at morning breakfast with his friends, or walking; he especially liked his time hiking at Ledgeview with his friends. In his younger years, he enjoyed bowling with his wife Mary Ann. Once he was unable to bowl, he continued supporting her bowling by joining her on her travels to tournaments. Together, DuWayne and Mary Ann traveled a lot. He was an active member of the American Legion Post #124 in New Holstein and enjoyed his travels around the area spending time at local churches for his avid devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, and visiting cemeteries. He was an avid Chicago Bears Fan, Milwaukee Brewers and the Wisconsin Badgers.
