Donna L. Wirtz, 81, of Kiel, died peacefully Saturday morning, March 6, 2021 at her home. She is the former Donna Henschel, born August 14, 1939 daughter of the late Edgar & Mildred (Platz) Henschel. Donna grew up and attended school in the Town of Russell and was a 1957 graduate of Elkhart Lake High School.

She married Clarence (Chum) Weigert and had four children including a surprise set of twins. Donna worked at Heritage Insurance and for Tecumseh Products for over thirty years until her retirement. In addition, Donna worked part-time as a waitress for Candy and Leroy's and the Tempo in Kiel.

On June 24, 1989 she married Lyle Wirtz at St. Paul UCC in the Town of Russell. They shared an interest in trap shooting and could often be found entertaining friends around the campfire near the Sheboygan County Marsh. He preceded her in death on January 10, 1990.

Donna was an active lifelong member of St. Paul Christian Church, Town of Russell. She enjoyed getting together with friends—socializing and sharing a meal with breakfast and birthday clubs. Much like her mother, she had a green thumb and enjoyed growing and caring for beautiful flower gardens. Her artistic talent created lovely flower arrangements and crafts. Donna also enjoyed golfing and canning garden vegetables. Donna was a fabulous cook, often making meals for her entire family or delivering them delicious soups. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her. There was a special place in her heart for her Grand-dogs, making sure she supplied them with treats and plenty of love.

She is survived by her children; Debra Perl, Laurie (Kenneth) Kraemer, Amy Jo Weigert, Tony (Jill) Weigert, grandchildren; Tracy Perl, Eric (Aga) Perl, Danelle (Justin) Wesley, Joseph, Jesse & Jadon Jeanty, Alex & Addison Weigert, great granddaughter; Nahla Perl. Donna is further survived by stepchildren; Scott (Kathy) Wirtz, Lisa Moungey, Amy (Wendell) Blackburn, step grandchildren; Sarah, Eric, Curtiss, Holly, Beth, Katie, Ian & Dakota, her brother; Donald (Dorothy) Henschel and her lifelong friend and partner in crime; Betty Krause.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents; Edgar & Mildred and her husband; Lyle Wirtz.

Funeral service for Donna will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday March 13, 2021 at St. Paul Christian Church (N8903 County Rd. J Elkhart Lake) with Pastor Ted McCurdy officiating. A time of fellowship will follow the service in the church hall from approximately 2:30pm until 4:00pm where family will greet visitors. There will be no visitation prior to the service at 2:00pm. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.

Donna's family would like to thank the caring staff at St. Nicholas Hospice for all their compassion and for keeping Donna comfortable in her last days.
