David C. Schmidt, age 74, of Kiel, died unexpectedly on Friday, November 5, 2021 at his residence.

Dave was born on September 26, 1947 to the late Harold and Betty (Kirschenstein) Schmidt in Fond du Lac County.  He was a graduate of Sheboygan North High School with the class of 1966.  On January 21, 1967 he married the love of his life, Sharon Lueloff in Plymouth.  Dave was employed at the Kohler Company for 31 years, retiring in 2011.  After retiring from Kohler, he started working at the Schleswig Dump until his illness would not allow him to do what he loved to do.

He could be found spending many hours outside, whether it be hunting, fishing, or working in his yard.  When Dave wasn't outside he could be found building "treasures", and was an avid collector of many things, especially his Hot Wheels Airplanes with his granddaughter.  He also enjoyed doing body work with Corey.  There wasn't much that Dave couldn't do, and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone that needed it, yet making sure to make time to make memories with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sharon; two children: Wendy Sue (Roy) Schultz and Corey (Julie) Schmidt; three grandchildren: Caitlin Hoell (Matt Fedie), Logan Hoell and Tessa Schmidt; two brothers and  two sisters: Judy (Mark) Todd, Clifford (Marion) Schmidt, Clayton (Mary) Schmidt and Yvonne Schmidt; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Barbara (Bruce) Otte, Marge (Ron) Platz and Steven (Cheryl) Lueloff.  Dave is further survived by his faithful companion: Libby, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents: Harold and Betty Schmidt and father-in-law and mother-in-law: Stanley and Ruth Lueloff.

Per Dave's wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of his life will take at 5:30PM on Friday, November 12, 2021 at Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home (815 6 th Street), Kiel.  The family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home from 2:30PM until the time of service at 5:30PM.

The family would like to thank St. Luke's Medical Staff for always going above and beyond for Dave and Sharon; as well as Aurora at Home Healthcare for the assistance you provided Dave. The Kiel EMT's for the care and compassion shown to the family in their time of need.
