Town Rhine

Obituary

Daniel K. Fulcer, age 65, of the town of Rhine, died peacefully on Monday, January 1, 2024 surrounded by his family at Sharon S. Richardson Hospice after a brief, intense fight with cancer.  Dan was born on December 21, 1958, in Waukesha to the late Leland and Arlene (Lammi) Fulcer.  He grew up in Neguanee, MI, attended elementary school in Palmer and was a graduate of Neguanee High School in 1977.  Dan was working at the Empire Iron Mine in Palmer, MI when he met the love of his life, Barbara Schweitzer in Green Bay, WI. They wed at St. George Catholic Church in Elkhart Lake on December 10, 1982.  Together they moved to the Elkhart Lake area where Dan worked at Stoelting's for two years before beginning a 20-year career at Richardson Bros. in Sheboygan Falls. He went on to spend 17 years at Great Lakes Cheese before retiring in 2021.

Dan was fiercely loyal to his family and extremely proud of the two children he and Barb raised.  He would never pass up a moment to go fishing or hunting with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed traveling with his family, visiting 48 states.  Dan continued to keep himself very busy in his retirement.  He was an active member of the Johnsonville Rod & Gun Club for over 33 years where he served as a past president as well as a hunter safety instructor for over 15 years.  If there was a conservation project to be completed, he was always willing to volunteer. He was an avid Packer Fan and enjoyed an occasional game of golf.  He was proud of the family home he built himself in the town of Rhine in the early 80's. In 1985, he bought land in Pembine, WI where he built a cabin for his family, spending many days hunting or fishing and many nights around a campfire or occasionally counting backwards while playing cribbage. He was willing to help anyone with anything and was a reliable project partner to family and friends. Dan could never pass up an Old Style in celebration of life's big and small moments with those whom he loved.

He is survived by his wife: Barbara; two children: Ryan (Sarah) Fulcer of Neenah and Tiffany (Billy) Treis of Thiensville; three grandchildren: Maggie Treis, Joseph Daniel (JD) Treis and Maeve Fulcer; one brother and two sisters: Michael Fulcer, Brenda (Bob) Armstrong and Lorrie (Bob) Doney.  Dan was further survived by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Steve (Paula) Schweitzer, Randy (Vicki) Schweitzer, Connie (Clint) Kilb, LeRoy (Sue) Schweitzer, Pam (Jack) Liebl, Annette (Jim) Ubbelohde, and Michelle (Brian) Matzdorf, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents: Leland and Arlene Fulcer; and in-laws: LeRoy and Delores Schweitzer

Due to inclement weather, the memorial service for Dan has been rescheduled and will tentatively be held at 5:00PM on SUNDAY, January 14, 2024 at Meiselwitz-Vollstedt-DeTroye Funeral Home (815 6th Street, Kiel).  The family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home during visitation from 1:30PM until 5:00PM.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in his name.
