Obituary

Dale E. Christel, 62, from Kiel passed away on Sunday morning March 10, 2024, from an accident that occurred on his family farm. He was born in Manitowoc County on August 13th, 1961, was raised on his farm near rural St. Nazianz, and was a graduate of Kiel High School.

Dale met the love of his life, Mardelle, in 1981. They married in 1987 and built a beautiful, wholesome life together with their three children on their land in rural Kiel. He led a life centered around being a committed and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and Catholic.

Dale enjoyed a full and active life, spending as much time as he could in the woods and on his land.  A persistent and successful bowhunter, trapper, and fisherman, he found fulfilment out in the tree stand, on the trapline, out in the boat, or working on projects outside.  Sharing his knowledge about his passions with his children and grandchildren filled him with true joy and satisfaction.

He was a dedicated and creative craftsman, sharing his skill and ingenuity as a dedicated tool and die maker for the same company for 45 years.  When he wasn't working or spending time outdoors, he was in his shop designing and building beautiful furniture and other projects, including a large wooden cross he recently donated to his church.

Dale was survived by his wife Mardelle Christel, his children; Max (Andi) Christel, rural Valders, Dana (Nathan McGree) Christel, Mount Horeb, Alex (Brianna) Christel, Valders, his five grandchildren; Adam Christel, Levi Christel, Beau Christel, Eli Christel, Wilder Christel McGree, and one step grandchild; Charley McGree. Dale was further survived by his siblings Glen (Lynn) Christel, rural Kiel, Ann Christel, Kiel, and Chris (Cheryl) Christel, California.

Dale was preceded in death by his father and mother, Lambert and Marian Christel.

Funeral Mass for Dale will be held at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, March 19th, 2024 at St. Gregory Catholic Church (214 Church St., St. Nazianz) with Rev. William Brunner officiating. Family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 am until 11:45 am, followed by Mass, with burial taking place right after Mass.

The family gives special thanks to ThedaCare, specifically his nurses Sarah and Adam for their very kind and attentive care, along with the St. Nazianz and Valders EMS and Fire Services.
