Charles W. Schmahl, 94, of Town Rhine, passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at Rocky Knoll Health and Rehabilitation Center.  Charles was born October 15, 1928, at the family farm to the late William and Anna (Diefenthaler) Schmahl.  On August 28, 1976, he married the former Deloris Broehm at Bethany Lutheran Church in Kaukauna.  She preceded him in death on August 13, 2009.  Charles loved animals and especially enjoyed working with his horses.

Survivors include his brother, Allen Schmahl (friend, Lillian) and his sister, Marilyn Laack.  He is further survived by his nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents and wife, Deloris, he was preceded in death by his brother, Leonard (Judy) Schmahl, sisters: Marion (Virgil) Weber and Kathryn (Harley) Hendricks, brother-in-law, Howard Laack, sister-in-law, Gloria Schmahl and other nieces and nephews.

A funeral service for Charles will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Meiselwitz-Vollstedt-DeTroye Funeral Home with Joe Zenk officiating.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.  Burial will follow in the Schleswig Cemetery.
