Obituary

Bill L. Stadler, age 77, passed from this life to his eternal life with the Lord on Sunday, March 21, 2021 at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice in Sheboygan Falls. A member of the Kiel community since 1973, Bill was born in Racine, Wisconsin on November 16, 1943 to Clara and Albert Stadler.

He grew up on the family farm and developed an extraordinary work ethic, which he exhibited his entire life.  After high school, he continued his education by receiving an Associate's Degree from UW-Parkside, a Bachelor's Degree from UW-Madison, and his Master's Degree from UW-Milwaukee. Bill was a prominent school psychologist for over thirty-five years in the Manitowoc, Calumet, and Sheboygan County areas. He retired from the Kiel School District in 1999, but continued serving as a part-time school psychologist for several other school districts, as well as teaching psychology courses at the university level.

A man of many talents, Bill was fluent in German, which enabled him to spend a summer abroad in Switzerland after finishing his undergraduate degree at UW-Madison. During that summer, he lived and worked in Zurich at a restaurant which was owned by one of his relatives. Some of his fondest memories include his tales about adventuring the predominantly German-speaking side of Switzerland. Some of his favorite stories to tell included those where he explored the cities of Luzern, Bern, Flawil, St. Gallen, and the time he climbed to the summit of Mount Santis with his cousin.

Bill began his career as an educator, teaching English and German at Plymouth High School.

While teaching at Plymouth, he met the love of his life, Lynn, who taught Vocal Music at the Plymouth Elementary Schools.  They quickly realized that they were soul-mates and were destined to be by one another's sides for the rest of their lives.  They were married on August 19th, 1967 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Plymouth.  In 1973, they moved to Kiel where they would raise their three sons. They did everything together, enjoying their church, their family activities, and even their work together, as Lynn eventually became Bill's secretary within the Kiel School District. Bill and Lynn were the best of friends who were dedicated to building a happy and loving home.

Bill was well-known for his devotion to his wife, Lynn, and was her #1 fan of her musical talents and of her cooking.  Luckily for him, Lynn was a great cook and baker.  Family members will smile and say that it was typical to find Bill with a smudge of barbeque sauce at the corner of his mouth, after enjoying another great home-cooked meal.

Bill and Lynn enjoyed traveling and loved to visit various botanical gardens around North America. They were avid gardeners and would spend the majority of their spring and summer tending to their flower gardens. They took great pride in the beauty of their gardens and loved to share that beauty with family and friends.

Bill took great pride in their children and grandchildren, and would attend family, school and sporting activities whenever possible.  Bill never minded the task at hand, whether rolling newspapers for the kids' paper routes, digging in the dirt as they tended their garden, or enjoying a bowl of popcorn while watching superhero movies.  Bill knew the value of simply spending time together and he treasured every moment.

Bill was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Kiel.  He had a great faith and serving his church brought him great pleasure.  He held various leadership and committee positions and did many things "behind the scenes".  He never sought credit, he simply wanted to make sure the services were enjoyed by all. He and Lynn also enjoyed visiting with church members who were unable to attend service, and shared audio and video tapes of the services with them.

Bill's loved ones will always cherish his wonderful sense of humor. He loved to quote phrases from his favorite television sit-coms and was a master of short, quippy one-liners.  Bill aged with grace and was a consistent reminder to all those around him that life is more fun when not taken so seriously.

Bill is remembered and cherished by his family, including his wife of fifty-three years, Lynaris, sons Timothy (Sandra), Scott (Holly), and Eric (Mark); his grandchildren Tyler, Sarah, Sophia and Peyton; his brother, James Stadler; his sister, Alice Hrupka, his brother-in-law, John Spangler, and many dear nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Shortly after his own passing, Bill was joined in eternal life by his wife of fifty-three years, Lynaris Stadler.  Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his mother-in-law, Vivian Knudsen, his father-in-law, Oliver Knudsen, sisters-in-law Elizabeth Spangler and Sandra Spencer; and brother-in-law Paul Hrupka.

Cremation has taken place.

A combined Celebration of Life Service for Bill and Lynn Stadler of Kiel will be held on Sunday, June 27, 2021 at 3:00pm at Trinity Lutheran Church (387 Cemetery Rd, Kiel). A time of visitation and support will be held in the church from 2:00pm until 2:45pm.
