Obituary

Bernard "Bunny" S. Parr, age 79, of New Holstein, died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Wednesday evening, May 13, 2020.

Bernie was born on January 21, 1941 in Neebish Island, Sault St. Marie, Michigan. He is the son of the late Bernard Roy and Beatrice Parr. Bernie was a graduate of Soo High School with the class of 1959 in Sault Ste. Marie, MI. On March6, 1963 he eloped with the love of his life Sandra Lanctot and married in Waukegan, IL. Bernie worked in operations management positions throughout his career and was employed with American Motors, Stoelting, and most recently, retired from Ameriquip Corporation. In his early years, Bernie played amateur hockey with the Soo Devils and eventually coached kids hockey teams. Bernie was a member of Kiel Kiwanis and was very involved in several local Trap Leagues; he placed in both Wisconsin State and National Trapshooting Championships. Bernie wasn't a man that would ever be found sitting around…he was always up at the crack of dawn and ready to go. He could always be found helping friends and family, or outside working on something. He especially enjoyed spending time with family, camping, four-wheeling, hunting, and for several years looked forward to spending winters in Florida with Sandy. He was an amazing husband, dad and friend, and will be forever missed, remembered, and loved.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years: Sandy; three children: Kelly (Dan) Ninmer, Rebecca Parr (Jack Thompson), and R. John Parr (Shannon Decker); four grandchildren: Rachelle Ninmer (Joe Vanden Boom), Brittany Ninmer, Dylan Ninmer (EmilyFritsch) and Eric Thompson; and one great-granddaughter: Sofie. He is further survived by one sister and brother: Pauline Sauro and Tom (Karen) Lawrence; one brother-in-law and three sisters-in-law: Larry Lanctot, Mary Lanctot, Kathy Lanctot and Cathy Lanctot, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Bernie was preceded in death by his parents, great-grandson: Carter; sister: Mary (Bob) Amyotte; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Bill Austin, Joe Sauro, Toni (Frank) Ruvaldt, Rosalee (Ron) Lueck, Derreld (Ruth) Lanctot, William Lanctot,Thomas Lanctot, James Lanctot, and Lori Lanctot.

Per Bernie's wishes no services will be held and cremation has taken place. He will be laid to rest on Neebish Island, Sault Ste. Marie, MI.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Ascension Hospice for the excellent and compassionate care provided to Bernie, Sandy and our family, especially Chris, Joy, and Chaplin Cliff for the special visits.
