Alvina
Reiter
d. Feb 12, 2025
Kiel
Alvina Reiter was taken home to Heaven on February 12, 2025 at the age of 101. She is the former Alvina Lohmiller, born in Henry, South Dakota to Carl and Hertha Lohmiller.
She was baptized into His Kingdom on December 16, 1923, and confirmed in her affirmation of Biblical beliefs on August 6, 1939. On July 9, 1944 she married Clare Reiter in Columbus, Georgia. He preceded her in death on December 9, 2016 at the
age of 96.
She is survived by her children: Larry, David (Nadine), Dennis (Kathy), Carol (John), and Connie (Kurt), 19 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, her husband Clare, daughter Linda, grandsons Joshua and Nathan, great granddaughter Makayla, and great great granddaughter Gemma.
She stood alongside and assisted her husband through his many years of pastoral ministry. She was a faithful servant and witness, daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. Yet still a fully condemned sinner but for her trust and confidence in the redeeming blood of her Savior and perfectly faithful friend, the Lord Jesus Christ.
The Celebration of her eternal life will be held on Saturday February 22, 2025 at 11:00am at Trinity Lutheran Church (387 Cemetery Rd. Kiel). A time of visitation will be held from 9:00 until 10:45 am when the family will have a brief devotion before the service. Burial to follow in the Kiel City Cemetery.
Her family respects the desires of those who may wish to honor Alvina with flowers, but suggests instead memorial gifts for Martin Luther College tuition assistance, as was Alvina's wish.
For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. John 3:16,17
He said to them, "The girl is not dead but sleeping". But they laughed at him. Jesus took the girl by the hand, and she was raised. Matthew 9:24,25 (abridged.)
For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a loud command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up in the clouds together with them, to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will always be with the Lord. Therefore, encourage one another with these words. 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18
