Obituary

Allan Walter Meiselwitz, Newton (Horseshoe Lake), passed away Saturday, February 17, 2024 at Azura Memory Care in Sheboygan.  Allan was born November 28, 1951, in Sheboygan, to the late Elroy and Vivian (Wydner) Meiselwitz.  He was baptized, confirmed, married, and a life long member at St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Kiel, where he was an usher and served on the Consistory.  He attended New Holstein Area Schools, graduating in 1971.

On July 6, 1974, he married the former Connie Meyer at St. Peter UCC.  Allan and Connie loved dogs and cars.  Together they owned several vintage and collector cars, traveled to many car shows in the surrounding area, and enjoyed attending the Indy 500 with friends for 13 years.  When they moved to Horseshoe Lake in 1998, a truck was more useful, which ended their relationship with "old cars", even though they still loved them.  Allan enjoyed living on the lake, going to Canada fishing with "the guys," men's bowling on Thursday nights, "eating out" with friends and going to antique stores looking for "Watt pottery" and other "have to have" items.  Allan was the flag raiser for the 100-year-old Liberty Pole in the Town of Meeme for many years.

Allan was employed at Gilson Manufacturing, Tecumseh Products, and Kiel Area Schools, where he spent 36 years as a custodian and retired in 2011 as head custodian of the Kiel Middle School.  He then worked for several years as custodian for St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and School.

Allan is survived by his wife, Connie, his loving dogs, Maggie, Bella and Mary,  brothers, Jeffrey (Gabriele) Meiselwitz and Peter (Tiffany) Meiselwitz; sisters, Catherine Meiselwitz, Meredith (Steven) Grusznski and Laurel (Leo) Ott; sister-in-law, Judith Meiselwitz and brother-in-law, Kevin Meyer.  He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, and special friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Patrick, brother, Steven Meiselwitz, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Willard and Helen Marie Meyer; paternal grandparents, Walter and Vera Meiselwitz and Roy and Meta Wydner, step-grandmother, Mary Meiselwitz and his dogs, Bruno, Candy and Maggie.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at 12:00 PM, at St. Peter United Church of Christ, (424 Fremont Street, Kiel), with Rev.
