Agnes
Scharenbroch
Jul 15, 1926 — May 30, 2026
Manitowoc
Agnes Scharenbroch (nee Krcma) died peacefully in her home in the Felician Village, Manitowoc on May 30, 2026 at the age of nearly 100.
She came from a family of twelve that grew up on a farm in Denmark, Wisconsin.
Agnes loved life. Her unwavering faith was the beacon that guided her along life's paths, and her greatest passion was her family—something she made abundantly clear to all who knew her. But her life was rich with many other loves as well.
Gardening was one: weeds did not stand a chance in her garden. She was always busy tending it and either preserving or selling the fruits of her labor—with plenty of help from her seven children.
Sewing was another. Which of her children doesn't have fond memories of Christmas pajamas or special occasion dresses made by her loving hands?
And then there was quilting. Her quilts are cherished by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren alike.
She and her husband, Al, shared many wonderful trips together. Most notable were their hikes down the Grand Canyon—twice—in their 60s!
During her 14 years at Felician Village, Agnes made many dear friends and early mornings she walked the halls delivering newspapers. She enjoyed many activities, including weekly games of sheepshead, Wii bowling, and of course, happy hour.
Finally, she was the thread that kept her large extended family connected. Through letters, birthday cards, and countless phone calls, she made sure everyone stayed in touch.
She will be deeply missed by all. We take comfort in knowing she is home with Daddy, Mike, Ric, Pat and all the loved ones who have gone before her.
She is survived by six daughters: Kathy Canepa; Eileen Scharenbroch (Sean Killian); Marleen (Billy) Jackson; Joleen Scharenbroch; Christine (Tim) Vetter; and Noreen (Tim) Eichstaedt. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren: Melissa and Brian Pfieffer (Maddy and Grace); Christian and Angie Canepa (Molina); Katie Canepa and Ryan Cameron (Astrid and Aksel); Aimee and Lino Rago (Giuseppe and Nyah); Connor Killian and Meg Hannan (Roisin); Seamus Killian; Emily Webb (Harper); Ashley LaBelle; Cassie Vetter; Makayla Vetter; Taylor and Lauryn Eichstaedt (Henry); Megan Eichstaedt (Maisie); and Noah and Brandi Eichstaedt (Melanie).
In addition, she is survived by four siblings: her twin sister, Eleanor Nelson; Beatrice Cisler; Jeanette (Karl) Kudick; and Jimmy (Eileen) Krcma.
Agnes was preceded in death by her husband of more than sixty years, Alphons Scharenbroch; their son, Michael Scharenbroch; sons-in-law, Ric Canepa and Pat LaBelle.
Special thanks to the staff at the Felician Village and Father Foley for their loving care and support.
