Jay Lechler

Jay Helmuth Lechler, 30, of Cottage Grove, WI, passed away on Friday, August 10, 2012. Jay was born February 9, 1982 in Sheboygan, son of Jack & Jermaine (Brost) Lechler of Kiel. He graduated from Kiel High School in 2000 and attended UW Sheboygan, Maricopa Community College and graduated from Madison Media Institute. Jay was a recording engineer and a piano/guitar teacher at Stoughton Performing Arts Center. He is survived by his parents, Jack & Jermaine, his sister Lori, aunts & uncles, Joanne Bruesewitz; Dennis (Helen) Brost & Joleen (Kevin) Bonde, cousins, Wendy Scholz & family, Tracy (Ralph) Billings & family; Kelly (Jeff) Schad & family; Missy (John) Zutz & family; Mandy Brost; Andrea (Chuck) Doute; Ryan Bonde; Stephanie (Andy) Miller & family & Jeff Bonde. He is further survived by his best friends, Kelly Stoeckigt & Jackie Bradley, many other relatives, friends and students. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Helmuth & Marie Lechler, Erwin & Alma Brost & his uncle, Robert Bruesewitz. Jay expressed his creative artistic skills through original musical composition, sound editing and production for a variety of artists, musical performance, and helping others love life, especially through music. A private gathering of family and close friends was held on Sunday, August 12, 2012. The family is creating a memorial fund for young people with a passion for music in Jay's name. Jay's smile was infectious and he filled any room he was in with his presence. Though his physical presence will be missed by so many, his music will live on forever.
