Eugene G. Loose Sr, age 85, formerly of Kiel and currently a resident of Homestead Care Center, New Holstein, passed away, Thursday afternoon, July 19, 2012 at Calumet Medical Center, Chilton. He was born, October 20, 1926 in Gravesville, son of the late George & Dorothy (Churchill) Loose. Eugene attended Trinity Lutheran church and school in the Town of Rantoul. On July 13, 1949 Eugene was united in marriage to Lucille Freund at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Johnsburg. Eugene was an award winning cheesemaker at Lake to Lake Dairy in Kiel for 41 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Kiel & the Chilton Eagles Club. Eugene enjoyed woodworking, playing cards and was an avid baseball fan, enjoying Brewer spring training. He also enjoyed going to bingo with his good friend, Leo Mand. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Lucille, a resident of Willowdale Nursing & Rehab Center, New Holstein, seven children; Katherine (Al) Tremblay, Carol Loose and special friend, Jimmy Mason, Robert (Pat) Loose, Eugene (Tammy) Loose Jr, Kenneth (Michelle) Loose, Randy Loose and Michelle (Jonathan) Matteson. He is further survived by eighteen grandchildren, Tracy (Dwight) Pergande, Terry (Randy) Pearce, Travis (Angie) Augustine, Tina (Brian) Huelsman, Debbie (Neal) Vogel, Amy (Mike) Wahl, Becky Loose, Jesse Loose, Brian, Carissa & Eric Loose, Kyle & Megan Loose, Vanessa & Holly Loose, Mackenzie, Carter & Cameron Matteson & thirteen great grandchildren, He is further survived by two sisters-in-law, Lorraine Loose, Chilton, Margaret Loose, South Caroline, step- sister, Marion & Eldon Totzke, Appleton, nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Eleanore (Evan) Geske two brothers, Ronald and Floyd Loose, stepfather, Norman Rohrdanz and special friend of Carol, Paul Bellin. The funeral Mass for Eugene will be celebrated on Monday, July 23, 2012 at 10:30 am at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 413 Fremont St., Kiel with Rev. Loren Nys S..D.S. officiating and Deacon Pat Knier assisting. Entombment will take place in Garden of Peace Mausoleum, Town of Sheboygan. Family and friends may call at the Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home, 815 6th St., Kiel on Sunday from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm and on Monday at the funeral home from 9:00 am until 10:00 am when brief family rites will take place. Eugene's family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at Homestead Care Center & Calumet Medical Center for the wonderful care he received.
