Theodore J.

Theodore “Ted” J. Meyer, age 84, Town of Newton, died peacefully at his home with his family at his side on July 4, 2012. He was born September 11, 1927 in the Town of Port Washington, son of the late Gilbert N. & Rose C. (Schuessler) Meyer. Ted attended St. Mary's Catholic School in Port Washington. On August 19, 1950 he married Mary Ann Dreps at St. John Evangelist Catholic Church, Kohler. The couple farmed all their lives; residing in Newton since 1968. Ted loved to build things with metal and wood. His shining accomplishment was building a working miniature steam engine from scratch. He was an active member of St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church, Newton. Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann of Newton, five children: Lariann (Jim) Dose, Mishicot, Harley (Linda) Meyer, Valders, Ted W. (Carol) Meyer, Valders, Dale (Kate) Meyer, Fredonia and Fran “Slim” (Wendy) Meyer, Collins. He is further survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, three brothers and three sisters-in-law; Gilbert (Loretta) Meyer, Leonard Meyer, Eugene (Mary) Meyer and Carol Meyer. He will be missed by many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, Rick Meyer, two brothers, Joseph Meyer, George (Martha) Meyer and sister-in-law, Rose (Donald) Rumpff. The funeral Mass for Ted will be celebrated at 10:30 am, Monday, July 9, 2012 at St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church, Newton with Rev. Ronald Belitz officiating. Burial will take place in St. Fidelis Catholic Cemetery, Town of Meeme. Family and friends may call at the church on Sunday from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm and on Monday at the church from 9:00 am until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Ted's name. Ted's family would like to extend their gratitude to the Unity Hospice nurses who took such good care of Ted during his last weeks at home.
