Delmar Schuler

Delmar G. Schuler, 95 of Cty Rd. MM rural Elkhart Lake, died Friday afternoon June 22, 2012 at Cedar Bay Assisted Living, Elkhart Lake where he had been a resident the past few months. He was born June 18, 1917 in the Town of Rhine, son of the late William & Helena (Conrad) Schuler. Delmar attended grade school in the Town of Rhine and was a graduate of Elkhart Lake High School. On September 27, 1941 Delmar was united in marriage to Viola Pfeifer at Zion Lutheran Church in Glenbeulah. Viola preceded him in death on August 31, 1997. Delmar farmed in the Town of Rhine most of his life. He also was a self employed carpenter for many years. He was a faithful and active member of St. Paul's UCC in the Town of Russell. He served as cemetery caretaker for many years, as well as a consistory member holding the office of treasurer. He was a member of the Sheboygan County Farm Bureau and served on the Elkhart Lake–Glenbeulah School Board. He enjoyed square dancing with Viola, traveling and playing golf. Delmar had a generous and humble way of helping others. He was always willing to lend a helping hand or word of advice with his family and friends, and was involved with many building projects. He was well respected and had a variety of good friends that spanned many generations. Survivors include his children; Donald (Lucy Alvear) Schuler, Quito, Ecuador, Nancy (Roy) Goetsch, Plainfield, IN., Duane (Sylvia Wolf) Schuler, Seattle, WA., Joel (Rebecca Johnston) Schuler, Elkhart Lake, WI., six grandchildren; Matthew (Ellen) Goetsch, Todd (Hannah) Goetsch, Isabel Schuler, Jacob & Abraham Mulberry, Joseph Schuler. eight great grandchildren; Emilia, Elizabeth & Jonah Goetsch, Makayla, Emma, Michael, Benjamin & Luke Goetsch. Delmar is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and a sister; Arlene (Harvey) Marx. Funeral Services for Delmar will be held at 7:00 pm on Tuesday June 26, 2012 at Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home, 815 6th St. Kiel with Rev. Rebecca A. Johnston officiating. Friends and family may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 3:00 pm until the time of services. Burial will be at St. Paul's Christian Church Cemetery. Delmar's family would like to extend a very special thank you to Dr. Matthews and the entire staff at Matthews Oncology, along with the nurses and staff of Sharon S. Richardson Home Hospice and the Cedar Bay Assisted Living staff for the wonderful care and friendship given to Delmar and his family. Also to the many friends and neighbors who have loved, cared for and been supportive of Delmar for many years. A memorial has been established in Delmar's name and will be used for the American Cancer Society or an Elkhart Lake Glenbeulah School District scholarship.
