Valeria E. “Val” Sessler, age 92, of Pioneer Road, Town of Meeme, died Tuesday evening, June 19, 2012 at St. Nicholas Hospital, Sheboygan. She was the former Valeria E. Schwartz, born August 31, 1919 in the Town of Meeme, daughter of the late Joseph & Minnie (Wasmer) Schwartz to a family of 10 brothers & sisters. She graduated from St. Fidelis Catholic Grade School in the Town of Meeme. Valeria worked at the Salvatorian Center, St. Nazianz for four years, the Telephone Company for eight years and at the Sheboygan Paper Box Co. for five years. On May 21, 1952 she married John Sessler at St. Isidore's Catholic Church in Osman.Valeria and John purchased the family tavern, Schwartz's, from her parents renaming it Sessler's Meeme House. The tavern has been operating the past 56 years by Valeria and her late husband, John, who passed away in 1985. Valeria enjoyed talking to her customers and friends throughout her many years of ownership. She always appreciated the help she received from her nieces, nephews, family and friends to run the tavern. She enjoyed spending time with and sponsoring numerous women and men bowling teams as well as the Sessler's sno-cruisers. Val and John took pride that Sessler's was a tavern that you felt at home and everyone knew your name. She enjoyed taking trips with her husband and friends, Dorothy & Jerome Koenig and running bus trips to horse races in Chicago at Arlington Park. She previously was a member of St. Fidelis Catholic Church, Town of Meeme, St. Isidore's Church, Osman and currently St. Thomas the Apostle in Newton. Survivors include her sister, Elizabeth Hertel, of Town of Meeme, brother, Engelbert Schwartz, Town of Meeme, sister-in-law, Lorraine Schwartz, Manitowoc, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband John, her parents, Joseph & Minnie (Wasmer) Schwartz, infant sister, Elizabeth and brothers and sisters: Gilbert (Lorina) Schwartz, Clarence Schwartz, Matthew (Ruth) Schwartz, Joseph Schwartz, Arlene (Bert) Renzelman, Lorraine (Ray) Albright, Marie (Albert) Bogenschuetz, Catherine (Joe) Hertel and brother-in-law, Bernard Hertel. The funeral Mass for Valeria will held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Newton with Rev. Patrick Nelson officiating. Burial will take place in St. Fidelis Catholic Cemetery, Town of Meeme. Family and friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 am until the time of service.
